Lorde : One Night Only

Conceived as a one-night-only event, New Zealand pop star Lorde’s performance in the rotunda of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum drew inspiration from the 1960 The Ed Sullivan Show. The use of color projections—shifting from crimson red to deep purple—paid tribute both to Wassily Kandinsky, whose work was exhibited at the museum, and to the singer’s synesthesia, with each hue carefully tailored to complement the tracks of the ten-song setlist.
